AUSTIN FOUNDED 1889 Austin City Council MINUTES For - September 07, 1989 - SPECIAL CALLED MEETING FIRST FLOOR ASSEMBLY ROOM - TOWN LAKE CENTER Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas 10:00 Α.Μ. Mayor Cooke called to order the special called meeting of the Council, noting the absence of Mayor Pro Tem Shipman and Councilmembers Barnstone and Urdy. The Mayor announced the purpose of the meeting was to have worksessions on nursing staffing at Brackenridge Hospital and the Convention Center. NURSING STAFFING AT BRACKENRIDGE HOSPITAL Tom Young introduced the worksession discussion. Liz Johnson discussed the Nursing Agency Contract Acquisition, which is on file in the City Clerk's office. Discussion with Councilmembers followed. CONVENTION CENTER - SCHEMATIC DESIGN Michael Bird, representing Gilbane, went over pertinent facts concerning the convention center. Larry Speck narrated a slide presentation showing the schematic design of the convention center which will be built. ITEMS POSTPONED Postponed to a later time is discussion of the Economic Development Package to U.S. Memories, Inc. Postponed to September 21, 1989 is Anti-Apartheid Ordinance Revisions. ADJOURNMENT Council adjourned its special called meeting at 11:07 Α.Μ.
