FOUNDED 110 Austin City Council MINUTES For : July 17, 1990 - SPECIAL CALLED MEETING Council Chambers, 307 West Second Street, Austin, Texas Mayor Cooke called to order the special called meeting of the Council at 3:34 P.M., noting the absence of Councilmember Barnstone, who arrived in the Council Chamber at 4:06 P.M. The Mayor announced Council would hear highligts of an issue paper: Economic Development and receive a briefing on Personnel Issues. He said there would not be a meeting of the Austin Housing Finance Corporation within this meeting. ISSUE PAPER: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Assistant City Manager Joe Lessard introduced the Issue Paper: Economic Development. Jin Smith, Director of Planning and Development, highlighted the Issue Paper. BRIEFING: PERSONNEL ISSUES City Manager Barnett introduced the briefing and Joe Canales, Director of Human Resources, the Briefing Paper on Personnel Issues. A copy is on file in the City Clerk's office. EXECUTIVE SESSION Mayor Cooke announced Council would go into executive session, pursuant to Article 6252-17, Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated, to discuss patters of land acquisition, litigation and for personnel matters. No final action, decision or vote by the City Council will be taken on any subject or matter unless specifically listed on the agenda for this meeting. 1 1. Land Acquisition - Section 2, Paragraph f (a) Review and discussion of real property acquisitions fort (1) Convention Center Project (2) 3.19 acres north of Sand Beach Reserve RECESS session. 1 Council recessed its meeting from 4:35 to 5:28 P.K. for executive RETAIL RATE CASE The Council, on Mayor Pro Tem Urdy's motion, Councilmember Nofziger's second, adopted a resolution approving an increase in wholesale rates charged by Northeast Utilities after supply and vastewater service to the City of Austin as part of the settlement of outside city retail rate case filed by Bluebonnet Savings, FSB. (7-0 Vote) SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT The Council, on Mayor Pro Tem Urdy's motion, Councilmember Nofziger's second, adopted a resolution authorizing execution of a Settlement Agreement in City of Austin v. United States Fidelity & Guaranty Company and Turner, Collie & Braden, Inc./Bankruptcy Proceedings: Olson Construction Company and United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company v. City of Austin in the Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nebraska. (7-0 Vote) ADJOURNMENT Council adjourned its meeting at 5:32 P.Μ. 4
