FOUNDED 3839 Austin City Council MINUTES SPECIAL CALLED MEETING March 20, 1991 TOWN LAKE CENTER 2:00 Ρ.Μ. - Mayor Cooke called to order the special called meeting of the Council, noting all members present, except Mayor Pro Tem Urdy, who arrived at 3:19 Ρ.Μ. The Mayor announced the purpose of the meeting was to hear the Regional/Urban Design Assistance Team (R/UDAT)/Economic Development Presentation. Joe Lessard, Assistant City Manager, introduced the discussion. Levis Wright, Chairperson of R/UDAT Implementation Committee, discussed the vision of the plan. Mark Lawless illustrated Existing Open Space Framework, Allan Cree talked about the Capital Campus with UT Gateway and 12th Street Gateway. The Convention Center was discussed by Alan Taniguchi and Al Simmons told about the plans for Congress Avenue. Michael Glaros talked about Retail Services, and Mark Lawless illustrated with charts Open Space Improvements. Civic/Cultural aspects including Civic Plaza and Arts District on the Lake, were covered by Cecilia Bustamante, Sinclair Black and Alan Tanaguchi. Bob Wilson's topic was Economic Development. Farland Bundy and Celia Kupersmith told of the plans for Transportation, including Transit and Short & Long Term Projects. Community Issues were covered by David Austin and Downtown Management Organization was outlined by John Vorral. Karin Richmond outlined Finance plans for the revitalization of the downtown area. Lewis Wright wrapped up the discussion. The meeting was recessed from 3:09 to 3:11, when discussion resumed. Adjournment was announced at 4:25 P.Μ.
