YOFAUSTIN POLNDID Austin City Council MINUTES - February 19, 1992 SPECIAL CALLED MEETING TOWN LAKE CENTER 1:30 Ρ.Μ. The Special Called Meeting of the Council began at 1:37 Ρ.Μ. Councilmembers Larson, Reynolds and Epstein were the only members of the Council present at that time. Councilmember Larson called the meeting to order and stated the purpose of the meeting was to hold a worksession on 1. Street Infrastructure Maintenance; and 2. Briefing by Capital Metro on Light Rail. Bill Stockton, Director of Public Works and Transportation, began his report on Street Infrastructure Maintenance. During Mr. Stockton's presentation, Councilmembers Nofziger, Garcia and Mayor Todd entered the room, and the meeting of the Council became official with a quorum present. Mr. Stockton's Maintenance Report, which was illustrated with slides, is on file in the City Clerk's Office. The Briefing by Capital Metro on Light Rail, was introduced by Tony Kouneski. He, in turn, introduced Cecelia Kupersmith, General Manager, and Jim Robertson, Light Rail Coordinator, who continued th presentation. Mr. Robinson discussed the benefits, efficiency, and effectiveness of light rail, highlighting his remarks with slides of other city's light rail systems. Mr. Kouneski discussed options, placement of the rail, funding, development, right-of-way issues, long term development and fares. Council asked questions of both the Capital Metro staff, and members of the Capital Metro Board who were present. The meeting was adjourned at 4:22 Ρ.Μ. MINUTES 1 2/19/92 : : با ! |
