YOF AUST FOUNDED 1839 Austin City Council MINUTES SPECIAL CALLED MEETING - May 13, 1992 TOWN LAKE CENTER - 1:30 Ρ.Μ. ! ! 1 Mayor Todd called to order the meeting of the Council, noting the absence of Mayor Pro Tem Urdy, Councilmember Epstein. The Mayor announced the purpose of the meeting was to hold a worksession. WORKSESSION 1. Employee Morale/Compensation Issue Paper Joe Canales, Director of Human Resources, used slides to illustrate his presentation, a copy of which is on file in the City Clerk's office. Council asked questions and Councilmember Garcia was particularly interested in the health care procedure for employees and retirees. He sees some problems with inequities, e.g. someone who works only a short time for the City will receive the same health plan as long term employees of the City. Councilmember Garcia also questioned the inclusion of spouses of retirees included in the plan. City Manager Barnett indicated there is now a study in progress, which she said also includes study of the dental plan for City employees. Sam Cox, Police Association, and Carol Guthrie, AFSCME, talked to Council about their concerns for members of their organizations. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 P.Μ.
