Mayor Todd called to order the special called meeting of the Council, noting the absence of Councilmember Nofziger. PUBLIC HEARING AND APPROVAL OF ORDINANCES/RESOLUTIONS 1. Approve an ordinance amending Chapter 6-1 of the City Code to create the Austin Hospital Authority. FIRST READING 2. Approve an ordinance amending Chapter 2-4, Article XXI of the City Code to reduce the number of hospital board members from 9 to 7. FIRST READING - With instructions to strike the naming of the board members; and a friendly amendment by Councilmember Epstein, and accepted, that one individual have extensive financial experience, but do not specify Certified Public Accountant. #1 and 2 on Mayor Pro Tem Urdy's motion, and Councilmembr Reynolds' second, 5-0-1 Vote, Councilmember Nofziger absent, Councilmember Epstein abstained. 3. Approve a resolution approving negotiation and execution of a contract with the Austin Hospital Authority for due diligence, legal, and other expenses related to the planning and effecting the transfer of operation of Brackenridge Hospital to the Austin Hospital Authority in an amount not to exceed $818,500.00.
