    Approved multi-million dollar construction contracts for runways and air cargo facilities at the future Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, along with creating a new development corporation to oversee its progress.
  • Enhanced Public Safety & Conduct:

    Mandated licenses for firearms dealers at city facilities and banned open glass containers and alcohol in a designated East Austin area. City personnel policies were also updated regarding harassment and weapons.
  • Downtown Investment & Business Growth:

    Backed significant funding and a service plan for downtown improvements through the Public Improvement District, and approved a program to provide training and support for small, women, and minority-owned businesses.

Approve Supplemental Amendment #4 with JASTER-QUINTANILLA & ASSOCIATES, INC., (DBE/MH) Austin, Texas, for design modifications and construction phase services to the professional services agreement for a Terminal Access Road Design at the New Austin Airport, in an amount not to exceed $400,000, for a total amount not to exceed $3,000,000. (Funding was included in the 1995-96 Capital budget of the Aviation Department. All costs associated with this project are eligible for future FAA grant reimbursement at 75% of eligible cost.)
