CITY OF AUSTIN FOUNDED 1839 Austin City Council MINUTES SPECIAL CALLED MEETING March 20, 1996 Mayor Todd Called the meeting to order, Councilmembers Goodman and Shea absent. PREVIEW OF ITEMS FOR NEXT COUNCIL MEETING 1. Review of Proposed Agenda Items from City Manager for March 28, 1996. 2. Review of Proposed Agenda Items from Council for March 28, 1996. ORDINANCES 3. Approve an ordinance ordering a municipal election for May 4, 1996 for the purpose of electing three councilmembers; setting June 1, 1996 as the run-off date; and authorizing the election to be held jointly with other political subdivisions. Total cost will be $404,000. (Funding is available in the operating budget of the City Clerk's office). Ordinance No. 960320-A approved with changes of adding three AISD schools for early voting: Lanier, Dill and Mendez. AISD will fund the three schools added for early voting, on Mayor Pro Tem Garcia's motion, Councilmember Nofziger's second, 5-0 vote, Councilmembers Goodman and Shea absent. RESOLUTIONS 4. Approve joint election agreements between the City of Austin and Travis County, Austin Independent School District, and Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer Conservation District for a joint election on May 4, 1996. Approved, except for agreement with Travis County on, Mayor Pro Tem Garcia's motion, Councilmember Nofziger's motion, 5-0 vote, Councilmembers Goodman and Shea absent. BOARD AND COMMISSION REPORTS 5.
