Austin City Council MINUTES WORKSESSION WEDNESDAY May 19, 1999 The following represents the actions taken by the Austin City Council in the order they occurred during the meeting. While the minutes are not in sequential order, all agenda items were discussed. THE CITY COUNCIL OF AUSTIN, TEXAS, CONVENED AT 1:50 P.M., ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 19, 1999, AT TOWN LAKE CENTER, 721 BARTON SPRINGS ROAD, AUSTIN, TEXAS, FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES: Mayor Watson called the meeting to order, noting the absence of Council Member Spelman. EXECUTIVE SESSION (No Public Discussion on These Items) Executive session was held at 2:00 p.m. The City Council announced it would go into Executive Session at 1:45 p.m. pursuant to Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code, to receive advice from Legal Counsel to discuss matters of land acquisition, litigation, and personnel matters as specifically listed on this agenda and to receive advice from Legal Counsel regarding any other item on this agenda. Motion to go into Executive Session to discuss item 7 below and to allow discussion on item 8 was approved on a motion by Council Member Garcia, Council Member Slusher's second by a 5-0 vote with Council Members Griffith and Spelman temporarily absent. Private Consultation with Attorney - Section 551-071 7. Discuss legal issues associated with intellectual property matters Staff Briefing - Section 551-075 8. Staff briefing regarding the financing plan for energy resource strategy for Austin Energy. This item will not be discussed in Executive Session for the lack of five Council votes to allow it. Sustainability Indicators Postponed at Council's request to June 3, 1999. 6. M/W/DBE Models Used for Private Development/Redevelopment Projects Postponed at Council's request to June 3, 1999. ADJOURNED at 4:36 p.m. on Council Member Griffith's motion, Council Member Slusher's second by a 5-0 vote. Council Member Spelman was absent. Approved on this the 3rd day of June, 1999 on Council Member Garcia's motion, Council Member Griffith's second by a 6-0 vote. Council Member Spelman was off the dais.
