Austin City Council MINUTES WORK SESSION WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2002 The following represents the actions taken by the Austin City Council in the order they occurred during the meeting. While the minutes are not in sequential order, all agenda items were discussed. The City Council of Austin, Texas convened in a Work Session on Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at One Texas Center, 505 Barton Springs Road, third floor training room, Austin, Texas. Mayor Garcia called the meeting to order at 10:08 a.m. BRIEFINGS 2. Briefing on the East 7th Street Corridor Study. The presentation was made by Lisa Gordon, Assistant City Manager; Austin Librach, Director of Transportation, Planning and Sustainability. 3. Economic and budget update and discussion of tax anticipation note for revenue shortfalls and increased costs for public safety and health services. The presentation was made by Toby Futrell, Deputy City Manager; John Stephens, Director of Finance; Rudy Garza, Assistant Director of Finance; Stan Knee; Chief of Police; Gary Warren, Fire Chief; Richard Harrington, Director of EMS; David Lurie, Director of Public Health. 1. Department of Aviation briefing on Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The presentation was made by Roger Chan, Assistant City Manager; Jim Smith, Executive Director of Aviation; Charles Gates, Director of Aviation. EXECUTIVE SESSION The City Council went into Executive Session, pursuant to Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code, to receive advice from Legal Counsel, to discuss matters of land acquisition, litigation, and personnel matters as specifically listed on this agenda and to receive advice from Legal Counsel regarding any other item on this agenda. 4 Discuss legal issues related to Austin Police Association, Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, and Catherine Haggerty v. City of Austin, Cause Number GN200259, filed in the 200th Judicial District Court of Travis County. This item was not discussed. The motion to adjourn the meeting at 1:00 p.m. was approved on Council Member Griffith's motion, Council Member Slusher's second by a 7-0 vote. The minutes from the Work Session of February 6, 200 and the Regular Meeting of February 7, 2002 were approved on Council Member Alvarez' motion, Mayor Garcia's second by a 7-0 vote.
