MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION MAY 8,2002 Austin City Council MINUTES WORKESSION WEDNESDAY, MAY 8, 2002 The following represents the actions taken by the Austin City Council in the order they occurred during the meeting. While the minutes are not in sequential order, all agenda items were discussed. The City Council of Austin, Texas convened in a Work Session on Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at One Texas Center, 505 Barton Springs Road, third floor training room, Austin, Texas. Mayor Garcia called the meeting to order at 10:14 a.m. BRIEFINGS 1. Overview of Council Member Thomas' visit to Sister City, Orlu, Nigeria. The presentation was made by Camille Donoghue, City of Austin's Sister Cities Program Coordinator, Donetta Good all, Associate Vice President, Academic Programs; and Beverly Silas, Vice Chair, Board of Directors, Austin Community College; and Anhan Ogoh, Chairman, Austin Old-Orlu Sister Cities Committee. 2. Five-Year Budget Forecast. The presentation was made by Rudy Garza, Assistant Director, Financial Services 3. Briefing on proposed Seaholm District Master Plan. The presentation was made by Lisa Gordon, Assistant City Manager; Austan Librach, Director, Planning, Transportation and Sustain ability; Jim Adams, Electrical Control Systems Supervisor, Austin Energy; and Sherity Wagner, Consultant, ROMA Design Group. BRIEFING AND POSSIBLE ACTION 4. Discussion and possible action on the division of the city into eight council districts for the election of councilmembers in the event that proposition 3 on the May 4, 2002, ballot is approved by the voters. No action required on this item because this proposition failed. The motion to adjourn the meeting at 12:30 p.m. was approved on Council Member Slusher's motion, Council Member second by a vote. MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION MAY 8,2002 The minutes from Special Called Meeting of May 7, 2002, Worksession of May 8, 2002 and the regular meeting of May 9, 2002 were approved on Council Member Griffith's motion, Mayor Pro Tern Goodman's second by a 6-0 vote. Council Member Thomas was off the dais.
