MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION AUGUST 7,2002 Austin City Council MINUTES WORKSESSION WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7,2002 The following represents the actions taken by the Austin City Council in the order they occurred during the meeting. While the minutes are not in sequential order, all agenda items were discussed. The City Council of Austin, Texas convened in a Work Session on Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at One Texas Center, 505 Barton Springs Road, third floor training room, Austin, Texas. Mayor Garcia called the meeting to order at 10:09 a.m. Budget Briefings - Fiscal Year 2002-2003 1. Protective Services: Fire, EMS, Police and Municipal Court The presentation was made by: Laura Huffman, Assistant City Manager, Protective Services; Richard Herrington, Director, EMS; Dr. Ed Racht, Medical Director, EMS; Chief Gary Warren, Austin Fire Department; Assistant Chief Paul Maldonado, Austin Fire Department; Chief Stan Knee, Austin Police Department; and Judge Evelyn McKee, Presiding Judge, Municipal Court. 2. Enterprise Services: Aviation, Convention and Solid Waste Services The presentation was made by: Jim Smith, Director, Aviation; and Charles Gates, Director, Financial and Administrative Services. The presentation by the Convention Center and Solid Waste Services will be at the regular meeting of Council on Thursday, August 8,2002. The motion to adjourn the meeting at 12:10 p.m. was approved on Council Member Slusher's motion, Council Member Alvarez' second on a 6-0 vote with Council Member Dunkerley off the dais. The minutes from the work session of August 7, 2002 and regular meeting of August 8, 2002 were approved on Council Member Thomas' motion, Council Member Wynn's second on a 7-0 vote.
