CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION DECEMBER 11,2002 Austin City Council MINUTES WORKSESSION WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11,2002 The following represents the actions taken by the Austin City Council in the order they occurred during the meeting. The City Council of Austin, Texas convened in a Work Session on Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at One Texas Center, 505 Barton Springs Road, 3rd Floor Training Room, Austin, Texas. Mayor Garcia called the meeting to order at 10:18 a.m. Public Power Utility Competitive Matters-Section 551.086 1. Discuss competitive strategies and financial planning issues for Austin Energy. This item was postponed to January 9,2003. Briefings 2. Report by the Austin Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities on its goals, work and accomplishments regarding promoting full inclusion of citizens with disabilities in the social and economic life of our community. The presentation was made by Dolores Gonzalez, staff liaison to the Commission/City ADA Coordinator; Ron Lucey, Chair of the Committee; Commissioners William King Brown and Terrisa W. Echterrnacht; and Curtis Voelkel, Associate Member representing Easter Seals-Central Texas; and John Morris, Associate Member representing Texas Home of Your Own Coalition 3. Discussion on Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Master Plan The presentation was made by Jim Smith, Aviation Director; Doug Sachman, Master Plan Project Manager, P&D Aviation; Lew Garber, Transportation Engineer, P&D Aviation; Therese Baer, Environmental Engineer, Baer Engineering; and Ben Lao, Terminal Architect, Ben Lao & Associates. CITY COUNCIL AGENDA 2 DECEMBER 11, 2002 4. Staff presentation on selection of Construction Manager at Risk for City Hall. The presentation was made by Peter Rieck, Director of Public Works; Nathan Schneider, Manager of Architectural Services, Redevelopment Services; and Fred Evins, Division Manager Project Delivery Services, Public Works. 5. Final report and recommendations by the cultural arts consultant regarding the City's cultural arts program. The presentation was made by Lucille E. Dabney, Marion McCollam, and Eduardo Diaz from Dabney & Associates. The motion to adjourn the meeting at 12:31 p.m. was approved on Mayor Pro Tern Goodman's motion, Council Member Alvarez' second on a 5-2 vote. Council Member Slusher was absent. Council Member Wynn was off the dais. The minutes for the Worksession of December 11, 2002 were approved on January 9, 2003 on Mayor Pro Tern Goodman's motion, Council Member Thomas' second on a 7-0 vote.
