CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19,2003 Austin City Council MINUTES WORKSESSION WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19,2003 Council Member Slusher called the meeting to order at 10:02 a.m. Mayor Garcia was absent. BRIEFINGS 1. Briefing from the Water and Wastewater Commission on the commission's goals and work plan. The presentation was made by Darwin McKee, Chair of the Water and Wastewater Commission. 2. Staff update on Gentrification in East Austin. The presentation was made by Joe Canales, Deputy City Manager; Paul Hilgers, Community Development Director, Neighborhood Housing; and Steve Sadowsky, Senior Planner, Historic Development Office. Mayor Pro Tern Goodman recessed the Council Meeting at 10:33 a.m. to go into the Executive Session. EXECUTIVE SESSION The City Council went into Executive Session, pursuant to Chapter 551.071 of the Open Meetings Act of the Texas Government Code, to receive advice from Legal Counsel on the road construction project on Barton Springs. Executive session ended at 11:31 p.m. Mayor Pro Tern Goodman called the Council Meeting back to order at 11:37 a.m. 3. Update on the road construction project on Barton Springs Road. The presentation was made by Toby Hammlet Futrell, City Manager and Peter Rieck, Director of Public Works. The meeting was adjourned at 12:01 p.m. The minutes for the worksession of March 19, 2003 were approved on March 27, 2003 on Mayor Pro Tern Goodman's motion, Council Member Wynn's second on a 7-0 vote.
