>> Mayor Leffingwell: A quorum is present. I don't think we actually need a quorum, but a quorum is present so I'll call this special called meeting of the austin city council to order on monday, NOVEMBER 18th, 2013 AT 2:07 p.M. We're meeting in the council chambers, austin city hall, 301 west second street, austin, texas. As you know under state law only two councilmembers are actually necessary for a quorum to canvas an election we'll now take up item number 1 to approve a resolution canvassing the results of the november 5th, 2013 special election. The returns of the election show that there were 39,932 votes for, and 26,192 votes against proposition 1. Before we take a motion is there anyone in the audience who would like to be heard on this item? Hearing and seeing none, I will entertain a motion, mayor pro tem cole. >> Thank you, mayor. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the citizens of austin for approving this item and to make a motion to approve it. We have been working diligently as a council on affordability issues and affordable housing in particular. And we're starting to really delve into the details of how those issues relate to other issues such as transportation and education. So as part of being good stewards for the city it feels really good to have the citizens' support and approval of this item. Move approval, mayor. >> Mayor Leffingwell: Mayor pro tem moves approval. Seconded by councilmember morrison. Are there any further comments? All in favor say aye? Opposed say no. It passes on a vote of four to zero. No further business before the council today so without objection we stand adjourned at 2:08 p.M. [08:08:03]
