While we have folks that are taking their seats, we're going to go ahead and I'm going to call -- it's on. I'll move it up. All right. We're going to go ahead and call to order the special called meeting for the purposes of canvassing the recent election. There being the necessary quorum of the Austin city of Austin I call this meeting to order. It is Wednesday, may 18th, 9:00 in the morning. We're in the boards and commissions room, city hall, 301 west second street. Under state law only two councilmembers are necessary for a quorum to canvas an election. We have more than that. So I am declaring a quorum. We're now going to take up item number 1, to approve a resolution canvassing the results of the may 7th, 2016 special election held as a result of a valid initiative petition which gave voters the opportunity to vote for or against a proposed ordinance identified as proposition 1. In this special election the returns of the election show that there were 39,109 votes for. And 49,208 votes against proposition 1. Before I take a motion, is there anyone in the audience who would like to be heard on this matter? There being none, I'm going to entertain a motion on item number 1. Mayor pro tem? >> Tovo: I move that we approve the resolution canvassing and accepting the returns for the may 7th, 2016 special election declaring proposition 1 not adopted. >> Mayor Adler: Is there a second to that motion? Mr. Renteria. There's been a motion by the [9:09:27 AM] mayor pro tem, seconded by councilmember Renteria. Is there any discussion? Seeing no discussion, we'll take a vote. Those in favor of this motion please say aye. Those opposed nay? It is unanimous on our dais, canvassing the votes with councilmembers kitchen and Zimmerman and Gallo and Casar not here. It passes. I am now going to adjourn the special called meeting and will at the same time call to order our budget session.
