So we are -- time is 12:15 we're going to convene our meeting on June 22, 2016. This is a special called meeting. It is a special called meeting for the purpose of going into executive session. So we can't do anything other than call this meeting, go into executive session. At the end of executive session we can't do anything but come out of executive session and end the meeting so today's meeting will all be in executive session. The city council will go into closed session to take up one item pursuant to 551.074 government code of city council will discuss the following personnel item, evaluate the performance of and consider compensation benefits for the city manager. Is there any objection to going into executive session on the item announced? >> Mr. Mayor? I'd like to be recognized for the purpose of making a motion that we postpone this agenda item until August. And if I get a second I'll explain why. My motion is to postpone this meeting today until August. >> Mayor Adler: Do we have the ability to be able to do that? If we're posted to go into executive session -- I guess it's always in order to postpone a meeting. Okay. It's been moved to postpone the meeting for today. Is there a second to that motion is? Ms. Garza sending that motion. >> Zimmerman: For purposes of discussion? Okay, so there's been quite a bit of buzz about the letter that the city manager released that he's being considered for a position that might be named as soon as the middle of next month. That's just a few weeks from now. And in the interest of that, I would like us to not immediately consider any performance or compensation matters until that issue has [12:18:13 PM] had a chance to play out. That's really the reason, just to not have a calendar timing issue with that pretty important decision that might come in the middle of next month. That's really the only reason. >> Mayor Adler: Yes, Ms. Garza. >> Garza: I don't want to put the city manager on the spot but I wonder if he believes that's appropriate too. I wonder what your thoughts are on that, if you would prefer -- city manager. >> Mayor Adler: This is also a conversation we could have in executive session. >> Garza: Okay. I just -- >> Mayor Adler: Is there a question to me? >> Garza: I was wondering what your thoughts were on postponing. >> Mayor Adler: I made the point we could also discuss this in executive session as well. >> I'd rather proceed. >> Garza: Okay. >> Mayor Adler: Okay. Any further discussion? Those in favor of postponing at this point please raise your hand? Mr. Zimmerman votes aye. Those opposed raise your hand. Balance of the dais. Troxclair and Gallo are off of the dais. >> Zimmerman: Thank you, Mr. Mayor. >> Mayor Adler: We'll now go back to executive session. We'll all go back to the room.
