Mayor Adler is unable to be here so I'll be sitting in his stead. There being the necessary quorum of the city of Austin city council, I now call this to order on Thursday, December 22nd at 10:00 -- 10:03 in the morning. We're meeting in the boards and commissions room at 301 west second street, Austin, Texas. Good morning, not just to the councilmembers who are here, but also the children of councilmembers who are here. [Laughter]. We're so pleased that you're here. As you know, under state law only two councilmembers are necessary for quorum to canvass an election. We will now take up canvassing of the results of the December 13th, 2016 election. The returns of the election show the following: There were in the district 10 race, there were 9,481 votes for Alison alter.

And 5,339 votes for Sheri Gallo. With Alison alter receiving a majority of all votes cast for city council district 10. Before we take a motion, is there anyone in the audience who would like to be heard on this item? There being none, I'll entertain a motion now on item 1. Councilmember pool?
