>> Houston: Good morning. I'm Ora Houston. A quorum is present, so I will call this special called meeting of the health and human services committee of the Austin city council to order on Wednesday, December the 19th. We're meeting in the boards and commissions room, Austin city hall, 301 west second street, Austin, Texas. And the time is 10:31 A.M. I don't see anyone here for citizens communications. I usually do a reminder about your parking validation, but all the folks here seem to be folks that know where it is. So thank you so much for being here today. We have one item today on the agenda. It's to appoint Alberta Phillips to the joint sustainability committee. Those of you who have been in Austin for any length of time know that Ms. Phillips has been a stalwart writer at the "Austin american-statesman" and just retired I think at the end of the summer to go and start writing a book. She's been active in the community, a member of holy cross catholic church, and very engaged with the naacp. So that's what we're here to do today. Councilmember Leslie pool can give us a little bit more information about the joint sustainability and why the health and human services needs to appoint someone. >> Pool: Great. I just want to thank you all for coming and having this special called meeting so that we could make this appointment of Alberta Phillips. She lives in the northern reaches of district 7 and upon her retirement my office and I started talking to her about what other engagement with the community she might be interested in. And we saw that there was this opening -- potential opening that she would be just the perfect nomination and appointment to that committee for the work that she's done in sustaining the

various communities in Austin over many, many years. And I think she will bring a well-rounded and fresh perspective to the work of that committee, and just really I'm honored that she agreed. And wish her the best of luck in joining new colleagues on that commission or that committee. No, I guess it's a commission, yeah. So thank you all again for being here this morning to do this special task. >> Houston: Thank you so much. May I have a motion? >> Councilmember, I move the appointment of Alberta Phillips to the joint sustainability commission. >> Houston: It's been moved and seconded that Alberta Phillips be recommended to the full council to be the appointee for the joint sustainability committee. All in favor let it be known by saying aye? Opposed? It's unanimous on the dais. Councilmember Garza is absent from this meeting. That completes our agenda for today. Without objection, this meeting of the health and human services committee is adjourned at 10:00 -- what time is it? 10:33 A.M. Thank you so much! Have a great Christmas season!
