>> Tovo: Good morning. I'm mayor pro tem Kathie tovo and I would like to call this meeting of the city of Austin city council to order. We do have a necessary quorum. We have different quorum rules for this type of meeting. And so we do have a quorum of council. It is Wednesday, December 19th, 2018. It's 10:01. And we're meeting in the boards and commissions room. Under state law just two councilmembers are actually required for this type of meeting. To canvass an election. So we'll now take up item number 1 to approve a resolution canvassing the results of the December 11th, 2018 special runoff election. The election of councilmembers for districts 1, district 3 and district 8. In the runoff election the returns of the election show the following: In the district 1 race, there were 3,439 votes for Natasha harper-madison and 1,346 votes for Mariana Salazar. With Natasha harper-madison receiving majority of all votes cast for city council district 1. In tistrict 3 race, there were 2,427 votes for Sabino Pio Renteria. And 1,353 votes for Susana Almanza. With Sabino Pio Renteria receiving a majority of all votes cast for city council district 3. In the district 8 race there were 6,172 votes for Paige Ellis and 4,821 votes for frank ward with Paige Ellis receiving a majority of all votes for city council district 8. Before we take a motion is there anyone in the audience who would like to speak on this item? We have a very small audience. [Laughter]. And my daughter is not going to speak up on this item.
