I'm going to convene the city council for a special called meeting. If you all will bear with us here, let's see how this goes. Today, again for the record, with the special called meeting, it is Monday, August 5th. It is 2:42. We are at the lifeworks foundation youth and family resource center building at 835 north pleasant valley road in Austin, Texas. A quorum is present.
[2:42:55 PM]
We have one item on our agenda, and that is to consider the adoption of a citizen initiated ordinance supported by a petition, certified as sufficient on July 26, 2019, to amend the city code regarding the use of Austin's hotel occupancy tax revenue. Is there anyone here to speak on this item? Okay. No one raises their hand. Is there a motion from the council? Does not need to be one. I just wanted to give opportunity for us to take action to adopt that ordinance if it was desired. Councilmember? >> Alter: I just had a question. It's my understanding for today is whether we want to adopt [indiscernible] The ordinance as written. Thank you. It's my understanding that we have before us a question
[2:43:56 PM]
of whether we want to adopt this ordinance full cloth. It's my understanding that we can make no amendments and not pick out if there was a small piece of it that we favored or something that's not actually in order. We have to adopt it in full. >> Mayor Adler: That is correct, councilmember. That is the only choice available to us either to adopt it all or to not adopt it, either by motion or through a failure to adopt. With no motion then, we're not going to go ahead and adopt that ordinance. The record should reflect that. And with that, it is 2:44. I think we've taken care of all the business in front of us. We will reconvene tomorrow for our work session. Thank you to our hosts for bringing us into this space, which is inspiring. Lyric, thank you so much for being with us today. And with that, this special

called meeting is adjourned.
