Welcome. We have a couple orders of business before us. Colleagues, we're going to move into executive session here in just a few minutes and start our first of two interviews for the sobering center board. We do have another item on the agenda for today. It is the action -- the possible action that we contemplated at our last meeting for the central health board. Of managers. And so now would be a great time, if there is such a will, to make a motion with regard to that item of action. Yes, council member kitchen. >> Kitchen: I make a motion to reappoint Dr. Charles bell to the central health board of directors. >> Tovo: Thank you. And there is a second from vice chair Fuentes. So now the committee will now go into closed session to take up one item, pursuant to sections 551.074 the government code the committee will discuss personnel matters related to the personnel of the sobering center board of directors . I'd like to move that we nominate our candidate Dr. Chad Hooten to serve on the sobering center board >> Tovo: Is that a second? Thank you. Any discussion, committee members mayor pro tem, would you like to speak to your motion? >> Harper-madison: I [11:11:35 AM] appreciate both candidates and their willingness to serve. If I didn't realize before we rely on the contributions of people's time to serve on the boards of the city. This is one of those where folks being willing to contribute their time and expertise is so beneficial to all of us, and I appreciate it. I was very impressed by both candidates. I think Dr. Hooten might have what it is the board is lack ING currently. I want to encourage the other candidate to keep involved. Both candidates were both so qualified and enthusiastic about having the opportunity to serve on the board shg so I -- I want to encourage that candidate to continue to be a [11:12:35 AM] part of the conversation, to continue to seek opportunities to volunteer and to keep that application on file for when their qualifications are more appropriate for what the board is in need of >> Tovo: Thank you. Council member kitchen, it looked like you had some comments to add >> Kitchen: I don't have any comments. We were enthusiastic about both candidates. Dr. Hooten is a better candidate at this point for the needs of the board. >> Tovo: We did get a strong pool this time and the two finalists were, as my colleagues have said -- it was a challenging decision. This was -- again, thank you to all the applicants who applied during this round. We appreciate your willingness to serve and your interest in serving and your support of the [11:13:38 AM] sobering center without further adieu, all in favor of the motion on the floor to recommend to the full council the appointment of Dr. Hooten and that is unanimous.
