And I'm going to convene the audit and finance committee. We have a full dais with councilmember Kelly here with me on the regular dais and councilmember Fuentes, pool, and tovo with us virtually. Today we are going to take up two items, which are really the same item. The first is discussion and possible action on recommendations or appointments to the municipal civil service commission and the second is an executive session related to that. We are first going to into into executive session to do interviews and if we are ready to make a decision then afterwards we will come out onto the regular dais and vote in relationship to item 1 to pass those nominations on to the council. The committee will now go into closed session to take up one item, pursuant to section 551.074, the government code, the committee will discuss personnel matters related to item 2, appointment of members to the municipal civil service [10:01:48 AM] commission, identify, interview, and discuss applicants. Any objection? Hearing none, the committee will now go into executive session. It will just take a couple minutes for councilmember Kelly and myself to get back online and then we will move forward as quickly and as timely as possible. Thank you. [10:59:05 AM] [Executive session] [11:10:59 AM] [Executive session] [11:37:38 AM] >> So it is 11:37 on April 18, 2022 and we are out of closed session. In closed session we discussed personnel items related to item 2. We will now move to item 1 to take action on the appointments to the municipal civil service commission. I will take a motion in a moment but the committee would like to appoint Andy Mormon as chair and to invite [indiscernible] And John to serve the two open full terms. I want to thank everyone who applied. We had a wonderful qualified group of candidates who were willing to serve our community in a very intense way. It is one of the most intense appointments that we have for service and so I want to thank our other candidates. There will be openings in the future and we will keep them in [11:38:38 AM] mind but please continue to keep this opportunity in mind. We have to keep in mind the whole dais that we have for the commission. So I will entertain a motion. Council member Kelly makes a motion to appoint Andy Mormon and chair and [indiscernible] And John umpress to fill the two full terms coming due. I also want to thank Teresa wisely and our chair. Teresa Perez wisely, who is our current chair, and Melissa Rogers, our current vice chair for their service as well. Do I have a second for the motion? Council member tovo seconds that motion. All those in favor. Council member tovo. You're in favor? Okay. So that's unanimous on the dais with council member Fuentes off. She was with us for the [11:39:40 AM] interviews but had a hard stop at 11:30. So thank you very much, everyone. It is now -- that was unanimous on the dais. Yes, council member tovo. >> Tovo: You probably indicated this that these are recommendations that now go to council for their considering and likely at the next meeting or the one in March. >> Alter: Yes, absolutely. Thank you for clarifying that but, yes, these will now be going to the full council as is our practice for approval at the next possible meeting. Those positions expire in may. I don't think it will be time enough to get them on for this meeting so I think it would be the first meeting in may. Any other questions? Nope? So it is now 11:40 on April 18 and with that I adjourn this meeting. Thank you all for your time and for being here with us. Appreciate it. [11:40:51 AM]
